🤖 AI Up-Skilling Journey | Experiment 7: Portfolio Dashboard with V0

🎯 Goal:

Learn about V0 by building a dynamic Program Portfolio Dashboard that allows users to chat with and interact directly with the underlying data.

🛠️ Tools

- V0 (Vercel)
- Perplexity (LLM for synthetic data + PRD generation)
- OpenAI API (chat integration)

🗺️ Architecture

Used Perplexity to generate a synthetic dataset of 100 programs with status and tracking attributes, along with a PRD capturing requirements and data model. Fed both the PRD and dataset into V0 to scaffold the dashboard UI and interactions, then connected V0 to a personal OpenAI API key to power in-dashboard AI chat, all running on Vercel-backed infrastructure.

🧠 Key Learnings

- A clear PRD plus a realistic synthetic dataset dramatically reduced iteration time and prompt overhead
- V0’s templates accelerate UI and layout setup so you can focus more on workflow and data behavior
- V0’s tight integration with Vercel provides a more production-ready backend and infra story than some other AI app builders
- Free-tier limits (5 prompts/day) made it hard to fully debug the AI chat integration, so higher quotas are important for deeper experimentation
