🤖 AI Up-Skilling Journey | Experiment 6: Book Summaries with Cursor

AI

🎯 Goal:

Learn about Cursor by building an agent that generates book summaries and saves them to a Notion "Book Summaries" database.

🛠️ Tools:

  • Notion MCP

  • Notion

  • Cursor

  • OpenAI / LLM (ChatGPT for text generation)

🗺️Architecture:

User provides Cursor either a book cover image or a book title. Cursor reads a markdown instruction file that defines processing steps and output format, then calls OpenAI (ChatGPT) to generate a structured summary. Finally, Cursor uses the Notion MCP server API to create a new page in the "Book Summaries" database with the generated content.

🧠 Key Learnings:

  • Cursor provides a VS Code-like IDE and enables building configurable agents with interactive AI assistance, making development faster and more integrated.

  • Integrating MCP servers (e.g., Notion) simplifies connecting agents to existing apps and automating content creation.

  • Using an LLM to generate summaries can speed up note capture and make a book-summary database more practical for frequent readers.
